A mnemonic seed phrase or backup seed phrase is a list of words which acts like a secret password to your blockchain account. In case you lose access to your account, the mnemonic seed phrase can be used to restore access to your funds.

Mnemonic seed phrases are important for several reasons

  1. Security: A mnemonic seed phrase is essentially the key to your account and the funds stored within. By keeping the phrase secure and confidential, you can ensure that only you have access to your account and its assets.

  2. Recovery: In case you lose access to your account (e.g., due to a lost or broken device, software failure), the mnemonic seed phrase can be used to restore access to your funds on a different device or wallet software that supports the same mnemonic standard.
